Sometimes music can strike the heart where no words normally can touch. The music moves beyond the ordinary defenses of the ego and sinks you into connection with yourself. The same can be true of paintings, of sculpture. Human beings naturally do art. They naturally explore creativity. It’s a natural exploration and the creative process, when truly explored with depth and connection to the divine source, allows for the expression of the soul -- expression of the heart that can move beyond the defenses of the intellect and so in that way, art becomes blessed. Art becomes a way to find an avenue to your soul, and so people in all cultures, in all societies have loved music, have loved art, have done art. In a natural healthy human society art is an important part of people’s expression.
Because the human heart, the soul of each and every person longs to find expression longs to find a way to be seen in the world, to be known -- a way to communicate, a way to feel itself. And because of this, human beings are drawn to different types of expressions that move beyond daily ordinary communication. Creativity and intuition are strongly linked. When real creativity begins to find expression in whatever form that creative process takes in your life, that creativity leads to connection to your intuition. And when creativity is linked to intuition, then the deeper aspects of your being begin to find expression in your work, in your life, in that which you create in the world.
Greatness does not come from wanting to impress others, or from efforts to achieve. Greatness comes from letting go, allowing, connecting to the creative aspects of your being and allowing that to connect to your intuition and allowing that intuitive force that connectedness within you to get expressed in your life, in whatever form that creativity manifests for you. For some it is to create and sing beautiful music. For others it is to paint. For others it is to write poetry; and, for others, it is to do service for humanity -- helping those in need. Creativity is expressed in the lives of all healthy people, in one form or another. When people are oppressed and they struggle with mere survival or with oppressive forces, you will notice the first activities to go are those that are creative. Life becomes narrowed, simply survival. It is a drudgery and it lacks that spark, that light, that joy that comes when your heart and your soul finds expression in your life.
That joy of the creative process is the joy that has led from one generation to another to another, passing on knowledge, wisdom, creation. Look what people have created from simple huts? They have gone to giant cities. They have created intelligence that is like their own. The creations of people are so vast and so significant and where do all these creations come from? From the creative force within each and every one, isn’t it? And where does that creative force come from, but the stirring of your own soul, your own heart, your own inner being to be expressed in the world.
And the more connected you are to your heart, to your soul, to you inner being, the more the voice of universal wisdom speaks through you in all the creative work that you do in your life and you find that you are in harmony with the world -- in harmony with living beings, in harmony with the plants and the animals. You find you are in harmony because that source from which creativity arises is the very essence of harmony. It is the very essence of the unity, which underlies all creation -- that deepest source from which your soul emerges. And from your ahtman comes your life force, your ability to express and to be. When real creativity finds expression, you find you are lifted up and taken beyond your ordinary fears concerns, worries and struggles.
You are taken to something amazing, whether it be a song, a poem or the building of a sky scraper, the creative artistry of architecture, the creative artistry of gardening. Human beings naturally create and from that collective creation comes the society. And if the creations of living beings come from deep in the harmony of their being and from their intuition, then the society begins to move in harmony and there is a connection that all people feel and the creativity of everyone is expanded. But when other forces take control of people individually or collectively, that natural spontaneity where the heart is expressed, gets oppressed, gets suppressed then you may feel: “I can not do this, I can not do that” you feel afraid. You know, the beauty of small children is they are not afraid.
If they’ve been raised by a loving father, a loving mother they will just say and sing and enjoy life without a filter of fear, without a filter of self-censorship. But as people grow this filter of self-censorship comes about. Worried that what you would create would not be good enough, what you would create wouldn’t be worth it because surely you’re not an artist; you are not a singer; you’re not a poet. You can’t do that. You’re not a great architect. You don’t know anything about it. You can’t make a beautiful garden, so you begin to think ‘I cannot do this’ is learned. The small child, raised with love, they do not think “I cannot do’ -- they just do it and they may fall flat on their face, but they’ve enjoyed the creative process; just thinking they can do what their heart tells them.
Creativity deep creativity, true creativity comes from connection with your deep intuition as well as from a connection to pure love, to the love that lies within each and every one of us, to the love that binds all beings together, to the love that is universal and brings wholeness in life and to the love that is your divine connection, your universal source. For that love is the creative expression of the cosmic progenitor, the cosmic source of being, the universal consciousness, divine essence from which all comes and unto which all will return.
That source of expression is love, is truth and out of that love all creation unfolds; all life, all existence is a creative process. Life itself is creativity, the cosmic creativity. So never think that you’re incapable of expressing your deepest creative being, your deepest love, your deepest truth. When you allow yourself to feel your own heart, to feel your own soul, to feel your connection and allow that to express through you into the world, you become the vehicle of the universal source of being. You become a dancer in the great dance of creation. And the gifts you have are given to you to give to the world. And each and every one of you has gifts, which you can give to the world. And those gifts through which you creatively express and give to the world, they are precious.
What you give is precious. Never feel that you have nothing to give. For indeed you have great gifts. And when you allow yourself to connect to your heart and to your heart’s longing, and to the love within you and allow it to flow through, the gifts that you have into the world of form, to share with other people, you are a part of the universal creative process of life itself. So never be discouraged when life becomes difficult, pick yourself up, brush yourself off and begin afresh. All people stumble. All people struggle. The animals in the woods struggle. The plant struggles to reach the sun where it can bloom. It’s natural to stumble. But don’t worry about It; feel the joy of life, of your life of your gifts and the creative love that runs through you. All
